Blaise Gauba is a multidisciplinary artist whose career has explored many forms of visual and performing art. His work encompasses illustration, cartooning, character design and both traditional and digital sculpture.
His creative background also extends into puppet design and puppetry, as well as voice-over work. This unusually broad range of disciplines has allowed him to approach character creation from several perspectives, from the initial drawing and design to its final three-dimensional form.
Alongside his commercial and character work, Gauba has continued to develop his own artwork, including drawing, painting and sculpture, reflecting a career built around both traditional techniques and digital tools.
Work for the Walt Disney Classics Collection
Blaise Gauba brought his character-focused approach to the Walt Disney Classics Collection across a diverse range of subjects. His WDCC work includes characters from classic animation as well as more contemporary Disney and Pixar productions.
He sculpted several memorable pieces inspired by Toy Story, including To Infinity and Beyond!, I'm Still Andy's Favorite Toy and I Found My Moving Buddy, as well as Mr. Potato Head in That's MISTER Potato Head to You!.
His work also included special and limited releases, such as Ebenezer Scrooge, Rarin' To Race featuring Herbie, and Hmph! I Ain't Scared, created for the 2001 Celebration of Walt Disney Art Classics.

A little story behind the artist
Blaise Gauba described his years as a freelance sculptor for Walt Disney Art Classics as an “absolute pleasure”, and considered himself fortunate to have been part of the relatively small group of artists chosen to sculpt for the collection.
His WDCC portfolio ultimately ranged from classic characters and park-inspired pieces to an extensive group of Toy Story characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Bo Peep, Hamm, Rex and Mr. Potato Head.
