Valerie Edwards joined The Walt Disney Company in 1988, beginning a long career in Disney sculpture and creative development.

She spent more than two decades as Director and Chief Sculptor for Walt Disney Imagineering, working at the intersection of sculpture, themed entertainment and character design.

Her professional experience extends across art, entertainment and product development, with a particular focus on making sculpted characters feel believable and alive in three dimensions.

Work for the Walt Disney Classics Collection

Valerie Edwards became a long-standing contributor to the Walt Disney Classics Collection, creating characters from both classic and contemporary Disney animation.

Her WDCC portfolio includes Flik and Princess Atta from A Bug's Life, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum from Alice in Wonderland, and several technically demanding character compositions.

Among her best-known challenges was the Genie sculpture I'm Losing to a Rug, a dynamic design requiring the animated energy of the character to be convincingly translated into a physical collectible.
